Located in Minneapolis, the Chicago Avenue Fire Art Center is at the intersection of 38th and Chicago in South Minneapolis’ Powderhorn Park Neighborhood. CAFAC’s home is in the former Nokomis Theater, originally constructed in 1915 as a silent movie theater.
An important part of CAFAC’s vision includes the preservation, restoration, and adaptive reuse of this once vibrant artistic and social amenity, the Nokomis Theater, back into a hub for creativity and culture for the community. Once an abandoned auto repair shop, it now fills a unique niche in the Twin Cities art scene and infuses new energy into its neighborhood, inspiring galleries and restaurants to open nearby.
